‘Black and Blue’ salvia’s luscious foliage and showy black and blue blooms make it a welcome addition to most gardens. It does like to spread by rhizomes unless controlled, so plan on giving it some space. As the case with most salvias, it prefers rich organic soil and good drainage. It does best in part sun, since the leaves may burn in full sun but may get somewhat floppy in too much shade. ‘Black and Blue’ salvia benefits from occasional trimming and grows back quickly. It blooms on and off from late spring through the fall, attracting bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
