Clover Fern is a perennial that is used as a ground cover that creates a dense mat and is not particular about sun exposure. The sunnier the exposure, the more water it will need, but also the thicker it will grow. It prefers consistently moist sites. Clover Fern is great for rain gardens, poor draining spots as well as ditches, the edge of ponds and streams, and wetland gardens. It needs less water when it grows in more shade.

Since Clover Fern spreads rapidly and creates dense growth, it can be thinned out and cut back whenever needed. It will re-grow quickly.
