Skeleton-leaf goldeneye, for example, is a very drought-tolerant shrubby perennial that grows 2-3 feet tall and 3-5 feet wide in full to part sun. It covers itself in yellow, daisy-like flowers from summer until the first frost, and it needs well-draining soil. If your soil is heavy clay, plant on a berm or in a raised bed to improve drainage, and group plants by their water needs.
