Western Ironweed is a tall perennial featuring clusters of pink or purple flowers. It does best in natural areas and large meadows where large colonies can be appreciated. Can spread aggressively in rich, moist soil. It can be difficult to control once plant is well established. It is not nearly as aggressive in dry soils. Very valuable to native bees.
Western Ironweed fits well into naturalized gardens, pocket prairies, meadow gardens.
